underneath the skin

An assortment of feelings
before love even begins

Hearts miss their beats
lips are suddenly dry

Knees get wobbly and weak
stomachs take wing and fly

Flesh quivering with strain
touch me..touch me first!

Bodies outside and in
craving release from the thirst

Anticipation brings on pain
when desire is red and white-hot

If fulfillment is not right now
you think you will die...but do not

At last, yes, just there
how fast I'm coming down

All the scattered pieces of me
drifting on that white cloud.
